The local government of Gerona benchmarked six offices of Tarlac State University to improve their ICT services on July 9 (Tuesday) at the BAC AVR, Main Campus.
Among the offices they visited are the Office of Management and Information System, Office of Human Resource Development and Management, Budget Management Unit, Accounting Unit, Supply and Property Management Unit, and Procurement Unit to learn about the university's systems and process of transactions to serve the residents of Gerona better.
Moreover, they inquired about how the OMIS resolves problems and system failures.
On the other hand, the SPMU shared its technique in assigning QR codes to the university's properties and items for easy tracing and accessing of details.
The LGU's visit is part of the long-term extension program of the College of Computer Studies titled “Advancing Technology, Advancing Government (ATAG): LGU Gerona and CCS Partner for ICT Governance and Development.”
Dr. Marlon Gamido, OMIS director and ATAG overall project leader, turned over a data cabinet to the LGU Gerona delegates, which they can use initially for networking and computing equipment.
The ATAG started last April 28, 2023, aimed to improve the municipality's service delivery to its constituents through digitization and ICT, particularly on permit and license applications and tax payment, among others. This will result in faster and more advanced transactions and less delays and errors through process streamlining.
Some CCS faculty members will also help mentor municipal employees on the use of technology and its system and monitoring.
Alongside Dr. Gamido, the ATAG is being materialized through the efforts of Dr. Heidilyn Gamido, component head for information systems; Dr. Edjie Delos Reyes, component head for network and hardware; Prof. Valarie Simbol, component head for training and education; Prof. Dennis Virtudazo, component head for process improvement; and Prof. Jerome Legaspi, component head for monitoring and evaluation.
