Tarlac State University and SM Shopping Center Management Corp. formally established a partnership for the university's students and alumni through a memorandum of agreement (MOA) signed on August 5, 2022 (Friday) at the VIP Lounge of the Main Campus.
This is the first time the university has sealed an agreement with SM, an accredited industry partner of TSU.
With this partnership, TSU can further help its students in recruitment and job placement, internship, and career development, according to Career Education and Job Placement Services Head Ms. Niña Garcia.
TSU students would be allowed upon request to participate in the industry partner's internship program to develop knowledge, skills, and attitude in preparation for their future careers.
SM will also provide subject matter experts during the university's career development activities and will continue participating in its career fair for graduating students.
"As requested, this partnership plans to take part in the [industry] partner's internship program. Additionally, [it] assists its hiring and placement efforts. I am thankful that our graduates will benefit greatly from the increased recruitment efforts and career fair programs brought about by this partnership," TSU President Dr. Arnold E. Velasco said in his message during the event.
The agreement also stipulates the university's continued advertisement of SM's job vacancies for broader dissemination to TSU students and alumni.
SM Supermalls was represented by Vice President for Human Resource Ms. Cheryll Ruth Agsaoay with Regional Operations Manager Mr. Conrado M. Garcia, Jr. and SM City Tarlac Human Resource Manager Ms. Lesleyan Paguio.
Meanwhile, TSU executives and heads present during the event are Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Agnes M. Macaraeg, Vice President for Administration and Finance Dr. Grace N. Rosete, and Student Welfare Services Head Dr. Grace Anne C. Hasegawa.
