The workshop aims to gear up the university's faculty-innovators and -inventors in the preparation and application of their inventions and innovations for patent.
Dr. Adrian Bon Santiago, an established inventor and innovator, imparted his invaluable knowledge on intellectual property rights and patent search and drafting to the participants from different colleges of the university, namely the colleges of Science, Teacher Education, Business and Accountancy, and Engineering and Technology.
Through the guidance of Dr. Santiago, TDTCO director Engr. Emir Lenard Sicangco, and Food Technology and Research Center director Dr. Lea Milan, the participants identified their respective priority projects to work on during the workshop. Each participant will work on the said project to come up with a patent draft ready for its application.
Also present in the workshop are VP for Research and Extension Services Dr. Armee Rosel, University Research Office director Prof. Edjie Delos Reyes, and RD Lead for TSU Dr. Dennis Cantre.
The second day of the workshop has been fruitful and insightful as Dr. Santiago discussed the technical know-how and techniques of patent search.
Attendees actively participated in today’s session by presenting their prior activity on conducting a patent search and by providing a comprehensive presentation of their inventions and innovations.
The afternoon session is given to the participants for the accomplishment of their activity for intensive patent search related to their works.
The three-day writeshop will resume next week, April 19, for the final presentation of the participants' outputs.
